Detailed Itinerary for the Safari

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable:
The journey to South Western Uganda will start after your early morning breakfast at 8:00 am. After a couple hours’ drive from Kampala, you will stop at the equator to take some photographs. You will then proceed, driving through a beautiful landscape of undulating hills in the region commonly known as the land of ‘milk’. Your eyes will therefore enjoy the sight of the legendary long-horned Ankole cattle along the way. You will be just in time for lunch as you reach Mbarara town - the biggest business centre in the western region. You will have a variety of choices, for your lunch, from the best dishes in this food rich region of Uganda.
As you head further south, get ready for the beautiful panoramas of the terraced hills of Kabale district. You will get to Bwindi in the late afternoon. In the evening feel free to join the neighbouring community to be entertained with a traditional dance. Complete your day by having a delicious dinner and a wonderful night at Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking:
Have your breakfast early morning and get ready for briefing by your guides at 9:00 am. At the park headquarters, guides will brief you before setting off to the forest in search for the gorillas. The search for these gorillas is quite tiresome and depending on their movement on that particular day, this activity may take you up to 6 or 9 hours yet on a good day, you can find them in a couple of hours.
The trail involves climbing up and down through steep rocks. It is vital that you carry a packed lunch, drinking water and a rain jacket.  The steep tracks are muddy in the rain season requiring that you wear comfortable boots or jungle shoes.   If jungle sounds make you uncomfortable, put on ear plugs.  You may also need walking sticks which will be provided by the park rangers.
Whatever the circumstances of the day, you will be delighted by the experience of the encounter with these endangered species and soon you will forget the strain of the search when you finally get fascinated at the sight of these giant primates. You will retire back to your Gorilla Resort Hotel for Dinner and a comfortable night as you ponder about these gifts of nature.

Day 3: 9 Hour drive to Queen Elizabeth NP
Wake up early and have breakfast as you prepare to start this journey that will see you through the unique western rift valley escarpment. You will enormously enjoy an en route game drive in Ishasha sector of the Queen Elizabeth Park as you search for tree climbing lions, varieties of monkeys, baboons as well as many species of plants and birds. You may also be welcomed by some other game like buffaloes, kobs, elephants, bushbucks, and the rare occasional leopard on your way to the Mweya Peninsular; the park headquarters. You will arrive in the evening and check in at your Lodge. After checking in, you will have some time to relax at the safari Lodge. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana safari Lodge (FB).

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth Game Drive Tour
A full day in the game surroundings;
The big cats can easily be seen on their active daily hunts very early in the morning. You therefore have to wake up at dawn (waking up with the birds as locally said). After enjoying an early morning cup of coffee/tea, you will embark on this morning drive through the Kasenyi plains and the Mweya peninsula to search for animals like, leopards, Buffaloes, elephants, Lions, Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, bush pigs, forest hogs, jackals and many more.
You will have to first retreat from the game drive to have a late breakfast and lunch at your lodge. A launch cruise on the Kazinga channel will then follow after your lunch and a brief repose. While on this boat trip look out for game like Buffaloes, hippos, and many birds including the European migrant birds -the terns and gulls - that usually congregate here in large flocks.
Relax, have a luscious dinner and spend a serene overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or at Jacana Safari Lodge.

Day 5: A 7 Hour drive to Kibale Chimpanzee sanctuary including an en route lunch, game drive and cultural tour.
You will have breakfast early in the morning after which you will start your journey to Fort Portal.  The trip offers spectacular views of Mount Rwenzori, varieties of flora and fauna including birds, Olive baboons and L’hoest’s, Mangabey & Red Colobus monkeys. You will either have to carry packed meal or an en route lunch will be arranged.
After checking in at your Hotel and having a brief rest, you will go for an evening walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary to view the birds and monkeys that inhabit the swamp. You will then retire to have dinner and overnight at Ndali Safari Lodge or Rwenzori Travellers Inn (Full Board) or Rwenzori View Guest house or Primate Lodge Cottages.

Day 6: A full day Chimpanzee tracking and guided-village walk.
After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters to be briefed by the guide who will provide hints and rules to observe while on the chimpanzee trek. For instance, these primates can be located by listening for their pant-hooting calls. You will then follow the sound while enjoying views of other primates like Black and White Colobus monkeys, Black faced Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkeys, Mangabeys, Olive Baboons, Bush-babies plus varieties of birds, including the Great Blue Turaco.
Later in the evening you can opt for a guided village walk or stay and relax at your Hotel.
Return to your Hotel for dinner and overnight.
